Zipslide Across the Clyde is back!
This year we will be zipping and sliding on Sunday 14th May from 9:00am– 12:00pm. The Zipslide is an exhilarating challenge and is a great way to kick off your day, as well as raise money for Cancer Support Scotland!
Sarah-Louise, Erin and Carolynne getting ready to Zip
Carolynne Cummings took part in our Zipslide last year with her friend Sarah-Louise and her daughter Erin. Carolynne had always fancied doing a Zipslide, so when the opportunity arose to do one for the charity, she jumped at the chance (quite literally!!).
Carolynne had heard about the services through a friend but never used them when she was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years before but wishes she had.
She said “I’m a survivor but struggled at times when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I wish I had accessed the support from Cancer Support Scotland at the time, when I needed it. I know it would have helped me cope better through a very difficult time.
I now just want to make sure that people use the therapies that the charity provides. I couldn’t believe it when I heard the charity doesn’t get any funding, so I was happy to take on the Zipslide and raise money and help them continue offering their great services.”
To anyone who is considering taking part in the Zipslide Carolynne says, “Shut your eyes and jump. It’s safe as houses. Everybody was apprehensive, me included, but everyone loved it. It’s nowhere near as scary as you think – it’s exhilarating!”
