Our Complementary Therapy Service
We provide a warm, friendly, peaceful environment where you can come to relax and escape any stresses or worries you may have. If you, or a close one, has been affected by cancer our highly qualified therapists can provide you with sensual Complementary Therapy sessions. Our therapies are free of charge and last about 45 minutes. It is always recommended that you speak to your doctor before receiving any type of Complementary Therapy.
Our Therapists
All of our therapists are fully qualified, insured and have experience in working with people who have cancer and their family and friends.
Aromatherapy
Natural essential oils are used to promote a particular emotional or physical outcome. Oils can be inhaled, placed into a burner, or applied to the skin when diluted. Aromatherapy can improve your mental and physical wellbeing by strengthening the immune system and encouraging deep relaxation. It can also help you to cope with symptoms such as pain, nausea, and anxiety. If massage is used, some clothing may need to be removed
Massage
Massage is offered for pain relief, muscular and joint problems such as injury or arthritis, stress reduction, relaxation, general health and wellbeing. Massage involves the working on the muscles and soft tissues. The level of touch used can be light and gentle or deep and strong. Massage may be given when lying on a massage couch or when seated on a chair. Pillows or towels may be used to support you to aid complete relaxation. Oil or lotion may be used during the therapy.
Reiki
Reiki comes from a Japanese word which means ‘Universal Life Energy’. Reiki therapy is done (fully clothed), lying down or sitting up. It involves little or no touching and is entirely non-invasive, leaving you feeling refreshed, energised and with a sense of wellbeing.
Reflexology
Reflexology works on the nerve endings in the feet and hands which are believed to relate to the glands and organs in your body. The Therapist uses the thumb and fingers to apply pressure to specific points on the feet or hands to release tension and promote a sense of well being in the body. You remain fully clothed apart from your feet, and lie on a massage couch whilst the practitioner works on your hands or feet and ankles. Most people report that a reflexology therapy is wonderfully relaxing and soothing, and many people fall asleep.
Indian Head Massage
Indian head massage is based on the Ayurvedic ancient Hindu science of health and medicine, practiced in India for over a thousand years. You remain fully clothed, sitting in a massage chair for the therapy. The Therapist may then wish you to sit quietly for ten or twenty minutes once the treatment is completed. Indian head massage is especially good for relieving stress, tension, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraine and sinusitis. It helps to increase joint mobility and flexibility in the neck and shoulders, aims to improve the circulation and relieve muscular tension, and aids in getting rid of toxins in the body.
The therapy is deeply calming and relaxing, leaving you feeling energised and revitalised and better able to concentrate.
Chiropody
Chiropodists provide treatment and advice for a number of day-to-day foot problems including toenails, corns, calluses, veruccae, athletes foot, sweaty feet and foot odours, dry cracked heels and circulation problems.
*If there are special circumstances your Therapist may offer you extra complementary therapy sessions. This will be done at your fifth session.
