Internships

Here at Cancer Support Scotland, we believe in offering opportunities and experience to people who would like to learn.  These are fixed term, non paid placements of three months full time.  Internships demand a large time commitment and make a substantial contribution to our work.  We do pay travel expenses.

 

Previous internships have been offered in Graphic Design, Fundraising  and Media. These are a chance to develop specific skills through structured learning, coaching and regular review.

Graphic Design Internship

Cancer Support Scotland is looking for a graphic designer to help design and create materials to support a major Fundraising Appeal it is currently running. 

You will also get the opportunity to have hands on experience of creating and expanding our new Brand and will work alongside the fundraising team to help them deliver appropriate support materials. 

We will allow you to negotiate with suppliers and liaise with our stakeholders to ensure publications and materials are delivered on time. 

Main Responsibilities 

To work with the fundraising team to produce a range of supporting materials. These include the following items 
• Appeal brochures with inserts 
• Appeal leaflets and flyers 
• Service marketing materials, service hand book and posters 
• Newsletters – redesign and produce 
• Website copy design of supporting materials 
• Fundraising materials – collection boxes, banners, plastic banner role, balloons and other promotional items 
• Adverts of local and national press. 

To work within our current Brand guidelines to insure there is consistency of materials. 

To contact our stakeholders and negotiate price, ensuring the charity is getting value for money. 

To produce materials to budget and timescales as dictated. 

To work to a design brief, this may be given verbally or written. 

To widely consult within the organisation ensuring clients, supporters views are taken into account.

We will pay your travel costs with a valid receipt. 

On satisfactory completion of your internship we will supply you with a written reference.
