It is end of an era for Cancer Support Scotland as we say Au Revoir to Madaline and she says ‘Gid Day to a new life in Oz.
It is with great sadness we say goodbye to Madaline Alexander who is stepping down as interim CEO with Cancer Support Scotland to emigrate with her husband. This is a move to be closer to her 2 children and 4 grandchildren currently living in Sydney, Australia.
Madaline has been involved with Cancer Support Scotland for around 10 years, first as a volunteer therapist and counsellor, then 7 years as the Operations & Service Manager before finally taking on the role of Interim CEO over the past 9 months. During Madaline’s time Cancer Support Scotland has grown from 1 centre supporting around 400 people per year, to 16 centres supporting over 2,000 people per year.
Madaline also took fundraising for our Charity seriously by supporting all our events and taking part in a Zipslide challenge. At all times remembering the people the funds would be helping
Madaline’s legacy will continue with the launch of our new Family Therapy Service in 2019. This launch of the Family Therapy Service is down to Madaline’s insight into what is needed to expand vital services and to continue to support the families affected by cancer in more ways.
Jack Ogston, Chair of Cancer Support Scotland said: Madaline will be greatly missed. For her generous spirit, her energy and deep rooted kindness and drive to help others.
From everyone that has worked, volunteered and used Cancer Support Scotland services we all wish Madaline and her family the very best as they embark on a new adventure in the land down under.
From the bottom of our hearts we wish you well as you start an exciting new chapter in your life.
