Jeane also met with the staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to raise awareness of the charity and secure vital resources to ensure the free services on offer remain for all those affected by cancer when they need it most.

Rob Murray, CEO of Cancer Support Scotland commented;

“I am delighted the Cabinet Secretary took the time to discuss and engage positively with those affected by cancer regarding the benefits of counselling. We know from our experience that feelings of isolation, loneliness, anxiety and depression are prevalent side effects of dealing with cancer.”

Rob Murray added;

“Finishing treatment can feel like ‘falling off a cliff edge’ – and almost half of people diagnosed with cancer consider the emotional impact to be worse than the physical effects of the disease.

“This is why, we were delighted the Cabinet Secretary was able to hear the experiences of those affected by cancer and the benefits grassroots counselling can have.”
