    Dear Madam/Sir

I am very interested in this role. I have held two similar posts and as with many of your applicants I’ve lost friends and family members to Cancer and would love to work for an organisation that helps build on the progress already made in tackling not just the disease itself but also the continuing but thankfully diminishing stigma associated with the various manifestations of the illness.
One problem I have is I have a diagnosis of temporal lobe epilepsy. It’s largely controlled by medication but the medication makes it impossible for me to operate heavy machinery or drive. Is driving absolutely essential to this role? My last two roles covered the whole of central Scotland and while there was a degree of added planing involved I managed to transport myself and training equipment as well accompany volunteers to meetings and conferences using public transport for which I have subsidised travel. If it is essential could you possibly in future mention this in role advertising in the future as it takes time to visit a website, open a job specification and if one is applying for many roles it’s very frustrating for someone like myself with a disability.

I wish you success in finding the ideal candidate for this role.

    Kind Regards
    Brian Combe.
