Meet the Trustees
Cancer Support Scotland is governed by a Board of Trustees which meets at least six times per year. The members are as follows:
Karen McGugan, Joint Chair of Trustees Karen is a registered nurse and has worked in a variety of clinical areas within the NHS. Karen’s role has been that of a senior nurse developing services and staff through strong leadership and vision.
David Semple, Joint Chair of Trustees David was a commercial solicitor, a founder partner and Chairman of Semple Fraser and a past President of the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce.
Careen Wilmot, Hon Treasurer Careen is a semi-retired teacher and has taught in a number of Secondary schools and Colleges. Latterly Careen taught special needs adults at Cardonald College and young men suffering from Aspergers at the Nautical College.
Judi Matheson Judi has a wealth of experience regarding sales, marketing, communications and general management. Judi transferred to the voluntary sector and became Fundraising Manager at St Columba’s Hospice. Judi is currently involved as a volunteer with ParentLine Scotland, a Board member of ASH Scotland and HomeLink Befriending, as well as working regularly with Mindroom.
Michael Buchanan Michael is a former Councillor with Glasgow City Council and prior to retirement was employed for 18 years as a Local Government Officer in a variety of management posts. Michael now plays an active role for the Independent Custody Visitor for Strathclyde Police Authority and is an active member of the Local Housing Organisation.
Donny McKinnon Donny is a Chartered Surveyor and business man owning the HUB Pacific Quay in Glasgow. Donny owns MacKinnon Associates and is currently responsible for transition between GBPT and Calman Cancer Support Centre
Kathleen Benham CA Kathleen is the partner and founder of Benham Conway & Co. and is a consultant to the Board with a special remit of finance and governance.
The Board are looking for new Trustees to join them. If you feel you have something to offer, or have specialisms in HR, medical/oncology, PR/media relations, sales/marketing or a business leader we would like to encourge you to consider joining as a Trustee.
