As with doing any activity, it is always best to consider the risks and how to avoid them. Please find below some areas of guidance to consider when fundraising and if you have any questions please do let the team know by calling 0141 211 0122 or emailing [email protected]
Raffles and Lotteries
Depending on whether you are selling tickets for your raffle on the day or prior to the event, there are different requirements you should be aware of.
If you are unsure please do let us know or visit www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk
Licences
If you fancy a wee tipple at a party please make sure that the venue for your event has a licence. If you are unsure you can contact your local authority.
Food Hygiene
If you are providing food at your event you need to make sure that everything is cooked/prepared safely.
For more information please visit www.food.gov.uk
Health and Safety
Nobody likes to feel unsafe at an event so please use your common sense to ensure no accidents can happen. Obviously if something goes wrong, make sure you have a trained first aider to hand!
Data Protection
If you are gathering information on anyone who attends your event (through sponsorsip forms/raffle envelopes etc.) it is better to ask them if it is ok to contact them in the future.
Online Fundraising
The internet is full of websites that will you to raise funds and donate online which makes for a lot easier fundraising! Here at Cancer Support Scotland, we would thoroughly recommend:
Charity Choice, JustGiving and Virgin Money Giving.
Press and P.R.
Why not send a press release to your local newspaper and let them know all about your event? They may even come along to take photos! Social Media is also a great way to advertise for free!
If you would like any extra guidance please just let the team know!
Cancer Support Scotland cannot accept any liability from injury incurred at an event not organised by ourselves.
