We are delighted to welcome along two distinguished medical professionals: Dr Doug Speake and Professor Ken Calman.

Talk: Does everyone need major surgery for bowel cancer?

Speaker: Dr Doug Speake, Consultant Colorectal Surgeon, Western General Hospital, Edinburgh

Profile: Dr Doug Speake

Doug Speake has worked in Edinburgh for 5 years having trained in Manchester.  He is an honorary senior lecturer with the University of Edinburgh and an NHS research Scotland Clinician.

Currently, sits on the National Cancer Research Institute colorectal subcommittee and the Research and Audit committee of the Association of Coloproctology.

Doug’s special interest is in the management of the earliest type of bowel cancer and how best to manage this.
