Glasgow University Cancer Support Scotland Society raise over £900!

Glasgow University Cancer Support Scotland Society was started by student Melanie Patrick just over 9 months ago and has already made such a difference to Cancer Support Scotland. Melanie, with fellow group members Heather Corley, Tony Hon, Catriona Quinn, Aduku Obilor, Calum Lavery, Morgan McTiernan and Jessica To, the group has not only raised awareness of Cancer Support Scotland but also a fantastic £932 to go towards our support services.

The society have been working hard over the last few months volunteering and fundraising. They’ve been raising funds in a variety of ways with Glasgow University Law Society at their Casino Night, by holding a Pub Quiz at Curlers Rest and with 4th year RCS students with a concert at Landsdowne Theatre.

We all wanted to raise awareness (and funds) for an amazing local charity. I have a family member who has suffered, and beaten, cancer twice so I understand how much it affects not only the patient but also all their family and support system…everyone is very keen to be involved next year and by raising £930 this year it gives us a target to beat £1000 next year! – Melanie Patrick (GUCSSS President)
