My New Hair – STV

My New Hair, was aired on STV on 16 February, giving a fascinating insight into the transformative world of wigs, through the lives of ordinary Scottish women who have lost their hair.

This documentary visited stylists Kyley and Amanda at Francis Hair and Beauty in East Kilbride. Helen Hosie Kallstrom lost her scarlet locks after undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer. Although nervous about taking off her wig for the cameras, she hopes that telling her story will help others. She recalls how it was one of the most traumatic experiences of her life but she has since set up a Facebook page called Cancer: The Biggest Tour of My Life to help those in a similar situation.

Una Morrison also stars and she too lost her hair after having treatment for breast cancer. She was devastated by the loss of her thick blonde locks, but explains how Kyley helped her choose a wig, which she now dubs Samantha!
