Ladies in Insurance Summer Ball

Over 100 guests donned their finest at the Grand Central Hotel on Friday 28th August to support Cancer Support Scotland.

The event was masterminded and organised by an inspirational group of women, the Ladies of Insurance, who have all pledged their commitment to raise vital funds for our charity. The committee made up of Norrelle King, Ashley Clancy, Nichola Martin, Cathryn McKinnie, Sharon Learmonth
and Elaine McCrink have smashed the fundraising target they set themselves for the Summer Ball.

Spurred on by the success of the Stars in their Eyes event, the team pulled out all of the stops which paid off as the event was fantastic. Supported and attended by a number of major businesses in Glasgow, guests enjoyed a champagne reception, three course meal, a ceilidh, auction and raffle.
As well as hearing about the services and support available from Cancer Support Scotland, a number of ladies affected by cancer gave speeches that were incredibly powerful, poignant and deeply personal. The audience was so compelled by their stories and honestly that each speaker received a standing ovation.

Norrelle King said “When you or a family member tell you they have been diagnosed with cancer it’s feels like you can’t breathe and your world becomes very dark. For our family, two years and lots of treatment later, life is better. Everyone who has walked through their doors knows Cancer Support Scotland has their back at the darkest moments & so it’s really lovely to be able to give something back, to help ensure the wonderful services of Cancer Support Scotland can continue. Our guests had a fantastic night, support from the insurance sector was fabulous and the generosity of donors and prize winners amazing. Thank you everyone! ”

Colin Graham, Chief Executive of Cancer Support Scotland said “We are incredibly grateful to the Ladies of Insurance for their continued support and for pulling together to help cancer patients, their families and carers. Groups like this are really important to Cancer Support Scotland as they are able to generate funds and spread the word about Cancer Support Scotland through their extensive networks. Well done Ladies.”
