Put your best foot forward to help charity

These boots are made for fundraising

Staff from Cancer Support Scotland, including Gwen Mosson from Cumbernauld (pictured left), have launched a ‘Heel Appeal’ to raise vital funds for the charity.

Gwen and her colleagues strapped on everything from stilletos to skating boots as they urged people to “walk a mile in someone else’s shoes”.

The sponsored walk is being backed by broadcasters Kaye Adams and Judith Ralston.

Gwen said: “It’s great to have the support of people like Kaye and Judith for an event like this and we’re hoping that we’ll get (how many?) people on the day joining us.”

Kaye said: “This is a fun way to raise money for a great cause and the choice of footwear can be anything from flippers to snowboots.”

Judith added: “People taking part can choose the wackiest footwear in their wardrobe. The walk is just over a mile long so maybe some men would like to accept the challenge of trying that in high heels!”

Cancer Support Scotland chief executive Colin Graham said: “We’re looking for people to raise funds and join the walk which takes place on Sunday, March 22.

“The route through Glasgow will take us from the Cancer Support Scotland Centre on Gartnavel campus towards Byres Road, though the Botanic Gardens and finishing at the Hilton Grosvenor on Great Western Road.

“This is a simple, fun and not too strenuous way to help us raise the money we need to help the constantly growing number of people seeking our assistance.”
